Thank you so much for letting us hear such true and refreshing words. We miss Mark and Waterford! Do you know if he managed to get his stock from Waterford?

Episode: Mark Reynier Remastered Series
Amigo Rob, great videos about whisky. Thanks so much for your time, patience and all the information. The only downside is that I can’t watch all the full-length videos—only shorter ones like this and the Lochlea episode with Alex. Anyway, thank you so much. You rock! Un abrazo.

Episode: Douglas Laing – Bottler to Distiller
Brilliant interview. I love the taste of Nc’Nean, and I love what it stands for. I’ve had the chance to meet Annabel a couple of times, and she and her entire team are incredibly passionate—it’s almost infectious! Thank you for this. How can I watch the full version?

The Story Behind SingleMalt TV
SingleMalt TV began in 2005 with an idea that had very little to do with whisky.
At the time, I was working as a cinematographer in Hollywood, where I had become one of the early advocates for High Definition production. While many still questioned whether HD would replace film, I was travelling throughout the United States teaching cinematographers and lighting professionals how to use the new technology through workshops for Sony and other manufacturers.
I was convinced that HD would eventually transform not only television and filmmaking, but also the internet. Long before online video was considered a serious medium, I wanted to explore what high-quality, long-form storytelling could look like on the web.
The question then became… what should I film?
Whisky fascinated me because it wasn’t really about whisky. It was about remarkable people, family businesses, tradition, innovation and places with extraordinary stories to tell.
I also knew that if SingleMalt TV was going to earn the respect of the whisky industry, I needed someone whose knowledge and reputation were beyond question. So I sent an email to whisky writer and historian Charlie MacLean.
To my surprise, Charlie replied almost immediately.
That single email became the beginning of a collaboration that took us across Scotland—and later to Spain and Kentucky—filming many of the people and distilleries shaping the modern whisky world. Over the years our professional relationship became a genuine friendship. Our families came to know one another, I often stayed at Charlie’s home in Hillend, just outside Edinburgh, and many of our best conversations happened long after the cameras had stopped rolling.
Today, SingleMalt TV still reflects the same idea that inspired it twenty years ago: combining cinematic storytelling with genuine whisky expertise to tell authentic stories about the people shaping the world of whisky.
Whether filming for international broadcasters, major motion picture studios or SingleMalt TV, my philosophy has never changed:
Every story deserves to be told with authenticity, respect and craftsmanship.
